Bangladesh is largely ethnically homogeneous. Indeed, its name derives from the Bengali ethno-linguistic group, which comprises 98% of the population. In 2009 the population was estimated at 156 million. About 90% of Bangladeshis are Muslims and the remainders are mostly Hindus.

Bangladesh has the highest population density in the world.

Now we are explaining the two sides of the population of Bangladesh.

    1) Quantity of people
    2) Quality of people

    1) Quantity of people:

    Population Distribution:
The 2001 Population Census revealed rural-urban population distribution was 77:23. In recent years, rural-urban migration has increased steadily. Expert opinion is that current rural– urban population distribution is 73:27. Almost 85% of the rural migrants are absorbed in four main cities namely, Dhaka, Chittagong, Khulna and Rajshahi and thus overcrowding these cities, threatening the ecology and complicating the task of managing the urban life.
